Where the f*** is Achiru?!?

Wed Jul 19, 2017, 4:24 PM
Hey DeviantART.

I'm sorry but I'm breaking up with you. It's been a very tough decision for me because I still think very fondly of you and all the experiences we've had together.

I remember the first time I met you. I had followed another artist I admired to this community from an oekaki paint chat board in 2004. I began sharing my original ideas and built a community here. I made lots of friends. I ran a webcomic for several years until I almost killed myself doing it. I had to detach myself from you, from my work and my old identity. I am more than an artist. I am an inspiration.

I tried to keep in touch with you but it's too much. I can't keep two-timing you. I was able to update both you and Tapastic but it wasn't healthy. I'm happy on Webtoons right now. The Mann and Lucky Channel is growing steadily and I get a ton more comments there that keep me motivated. So long and fare thee well.

Hey I Just Met You

Wed Apr 5, 2017, 10:18 PM
Hey everyone! Man it's already April~

So lots of stuff happened last month. The book sale ended and I had an art show and sold one painting. In the meantime I'm getting ready launch yet another book starring Mann and Lucky! It is titled "The House Party" and it's 255 pages long.... WHEW THAT WAS SO MUCH WORK.

If you aren't following me on Instagram or on Patreon, that's where all the story snippets have been.

I'm now going to update "Hey I Just Met You" to DeviantART on Mondays and Fridays for this month to get you caught up on their first meeting. Then I will be offering snippets of The House Party in May.

2017 February Reflection

Tue Feb 28, 2017, 7:01 PM
So this past month I've finished fulfilling ALL PREORDERS ON KICKSTARTER which was a giant undertaking:

In the meantime I've gotten my graphic novel into two local independent bookstores and two local comic book shops:

Because I don't have a large publishing company behind me to do a large share of the marketing, independent stores are wary of stocking books that of course, might not sell. So they will generally consign or buy only one or two books and if they sell out, they will be confident in stocking more. I'm glad that I have a strong network to help me sell out those one or two books really fast!

Hey everyone! I'm going to make a commitment to be more active on DA this year. Which means leaving more comments everywheerree. I mean I love all you here. I really do. I started here so many years ago and it was this community of artists and art appreciators that helped my cast family and stories grow to where they are today. I mean some of you I can still recall all your usernames and the conversations we've spawned . Like Shinerai will forever be the designer of Callith the dragon, and Ehme helped spawn Zy the Watermelon head and Xie the murderer and all the other nicknames for these characters. kiyoshiwithpen was the namesake of Zy's pet dragon. mangakasusumiya1 named Kawaii Star-chan. And bouncymischa I think it was you who wanted to give Diiefvs videogames? Well he seems to be very much a gamer now lol. The comments I get here on DeviantART feel like an extension of the cast family. So to me you guys are family and that's never gonna change. LOVE YOU ALL!

Hi for the new peeps I'm Achiru and I basically record the conversations that occur in my head between a crazy cast of characters which I like to share with you.

So a new development happened in the studio that was just ask shocking as March 2008 when Xei announced he was getting married to Vera (Valken was probably the only one who saw it coming). And maaaybe just as shocking as when Xie and Xandre hooked up. And that Diiefvs got a haircut (to Xei's horror).

I now give you the storyline which pretty much takes off right after where RAVEN (now UNSPOKEN) went on hiatus at the end of Act 3, Scene 3:

FOLLOW ME ON PATREON to get scheduled updates to your inbox daily even while Achiru is on vacation~! You don't need to pledge any amount, just follow~!

In the meantime we're fully funded and thanks for your support! :w00t!:

The world isn't over, friends. In the wake of fascism rising in America, let's back a girl's right to choose her own future:…

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the well wishes on my last journal. My mom's funeral went incredibly smoothly and it was a beautiful day. So many people came to share our grief and her casket was covered in flowers.

Naturally there's always going to be the part of me that misses her being present with me and it pales in comparison to the relief I feel that she no longer has to suffer any pain.

My immediate family agreed to collaborate on decorating her casket because there wasn't one on the market that we felt would suit her artistic preferences. After all it was mom who inspired us to be crafty and make the things we couldn't buy. We made sure to pick a date for her funeral that would allow us the time to really prepare a heartfelt memorial service. Attention to detail is a trait all of us share.

I really hope that you cherish your loved ones and take the time to get to know them. When you have the complete picture of who that person is, from birth to death, there is nothing to regret. All that needed to be said had long been said, so you feel complete with that relationship when it does, finally, come to an end. If you haven't told the people you love that you love them today, or give a hug to whoever needs one, then make time to do exactly that.

I want to thank my patrons again for this month of November. Here are the raffle draw winners:

In other news, I was re-watching Randy Pausch's Last Lecture on TED (…) titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" and thought it would be great discussion if I shared it with my boyfriend and in extension to you.

MattCarberry and I had a good long (hour?) discussion after hearing the talk and I learned what, or which experience, really made him tick. It was the words of a teacher who saw in him who he could be and he wants to live up to those words. For me, I always wanted to be a manga artist (like Rumiko Takahashi but with a metaverse like CLAMP's Tsubasa), and so I'll do whatever it takes to get there, one book at a time. Well, the plan is a book a year. Starting with this year, I've finally completed the extended story version of the myth of Eros and Psyche, book 1: Eros' Plan. I'm still in the process of putting the Kickstarter Campaign together so stay tuned for when I'm ready to share it with you! In the meantime I'm open to feedback on the live preview:…

While we wait, I want to hear some of your childhood dreams and whether or not you've made any plans to tackle one or more of them.

Wed Aug 10, 2016, 9:57 AM
Hey everyone, thanks for all the comments on my comic pages and stuff. I really appreciate being able to hear your thoughts. My mother passed away earlier this week and I will be busy with funeral proceedings. I probably won't be very active here for the remainder of this month.

See you in September.

OTAFEST 2016!!!

Mon Jul 4, 2016, 11:19 AM
HEY EVERYONE!!!! OTAFEST WAS AMAAZZIINNGG THIS YEAR~ I shared a table with MattCarberry and we infiltrated the con as Team Rocket first thing on Friday:

It was so exciting to meet so many familiar faces! (most of my Maid'ens came to visit me at my table and I attended most of their panels too)

I didn't feel like wearing a wig so instead of Mavis and Jonathan we went causally Victorian on Saturday:

I was seated next to The-Dapper-Owl and DappleFox to the left and Donserate with his girlfriend Medusasno on the right (Medusasno had work on Sunday so I only got a photo with Donserate with his EPIC GUNDAM MASK). They were all great neighbours and I commissioned The-Dapper-Owl and Donserate :XD: Across our tables were the art of sisters Weissidian and Vaahlkult I'm sorry I didn't get around to chatting with you more so I hope you had a safe trip back to Edmonton~

It was DappleFox's birthday over the weekend too! SHE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SHARE CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES WITH EVERYONE BLESS HER

I also got to see meru and Sparkling-Dusk again and gave them the original drawings from the art trade we did two years ago. THEIR STALLS LOOKED AMAZIINNGG

OOH And I was on the lookout for kindred-spirits-with-dreams-of-being-mangaka-in-North-America and got to chat with Melissa King Hope  the author of Unlikely Sanctuary and tiffa author of Shadow Magic. Tiffany is already on her way to getting her story animated so GO CHECK OUT HER ANIMATED TRAILER

It's always good to meet other people with headchildren and the trials and tribulations that come with raising them. If you like the yaoi sub-genre give her story a read!

Tiffa makes really cute lacy-wrist cuffs, cat and rabbit ears and chokers! I bought a few from her and she gave me a keychain and a towel. THANKS FOR THE FREE STUFF TIFFA!!!

In the meantime almost 60 people signed onto my mailing list for updates on when Eros & Psyche Book 1 is finally open for pre-orders (October TBA) and almost half of them were interested in the Colouring Contest promotion.

I'm sorry for not keeping up with announcements on DeviantART but if you REALLY want to participate it's not too late to shoot me an email at to get the line art and be a part of the colouring contest or just have the line art because you just want the line art. I'll keep that offer open for you deviants until JULY 16th 2016 After which that link to the Line Art will expire.

In the meantime I wish you all a fabulous summer! :D

Tue Jun 14, 2016, 1:40 PM

There's lots of cool stuff coming I've been so busy prepping for Panel One Comic Creators Festival (Calgary's first convention for local comkiers) and for Otafest (Calgary's annual anime convention) I haven't posted much recently. I HAVEN'T HAD A TABLE IN 6 YEARS. This will be interesting.

Here's what you can look forward to: STEVEN UNIVERSE PAINTING BOMB! I've done another three acrylic paintings which I've finally compiled photos for that will be uploaded next week! All my SU paintings will be on sale at the con because frankly I'm running out of wall space in my studio for new paintings. GIVE THEM A GOOD HOME PLEASE.

I will have videos done of both cons so that probably won't be done until mid July, after which I will continue to finish the first book of Eros and Psyche. The Kickstarter campaign is due to run this fall!!!

Anyway I still love you guys here I'm so sorry for be QUIETTTT~

So quick question for regular con attendees! What type of merchandise do you buy at Artist Alley if and when you shop there?

Hey everyone! We finally hit over $1000 on Kickstarter! To celebrate this milestone I've put together a 12-page PDF preview you can download:…

We only have 7 days left! PLEASE CONSIDER BACKING US HERE…

Even if we don't make it to $5000 and no one gets charged by the end of next week those of you who pledged for the top tier reward WILL STILL GET A CAMEO AS A THANK YOU.

But yeah! Lessons learned:

1. Printing image PDFs on MangaStudio using a non-International standard paper-size is a PAIN TO MANUALLY CUSTOMIZE. THANKS NORTH AMERICA.

2. I love you automatic page-numbering and it took me so bloody long to figure out how to make you start where I wanted you to start because I didn't know you can enter negative numbers. I am forever thankful that I don't need to manually rename all my files whenever I add pages or move pages in the middle of the story because THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DRAW EXPANDED SCENES.

3. MangaStudio can handle 600dpi story files which include multiple page layered images (think 100 psd files all combined). It won't crash just trying to paint one page with max-sized tools. YES. It costs FOUR TIMES as much as openCanvas but so worth it for book production.

4. MangaStudio won't automatically recall the last text font, size and alignment that I used so new habit is be prepared to copy and paste a lot. Whatever works.

5. There's still so many functions I don't understand yet. What are all these mysterious buttons and how can I make them work for me?

Happy Chinese New Year!

New Vlog video yesterday

YouTube Vlog

Sun Jan 17, 2016, 7:13 PM

I commit to posting one new video every Sunday. My $10 Patrons can request certain video topics so check it out here: What Inspires Me

ALSO I want to make a couple edits to my last journal entry: there will be more than 100 new pages worth of story in Volume 1: "The Elopement", including a flashback of one character to their budding adolescence. There will also be about the same number of new pages in Volume Two: "The Breakup" including a preview and flashback of Eros's adult form (and that side story covers the birth of Anteros). MUCH EXCITEMENT.

Happy New Year to everyone! I'm excited to announce that the book version of the Myth of Eros and Psyche is in the works between now and Valentine's Day!

So why the book?

The story was, as some of you older readers will recall, a class project from University seven years ago (I can't believe the story is still going O_O) that was basically supposed to end after the couple broke up. It told the tragedy portion of the myth in a nutshell and I hit all the plot points as fast as possible. However everyone enjoyed it so much we decided to keep producing it to the actual ending where they get back together again after a long series of trials.

Having decided to go all the way, the beginning now feels a bit disjointed and rushed compared the pace of the second half of the tale. So we are going to add some expanded scenes to it. Scrap that, we're adding a helluva lot of expanded scenes, well more than 100 pages worth of story. Almost half the book is never-seen-before material. More than half the book. Most of the book.

What will be in the book that's not in the online version?

Psyche's relationship with both her sisters (that's right, we meet sister #2), her relationship with her parents, her relationship with the guards (and why she was fighting in the courtyard to begin with), what led Eros to decide it was a fine idea to kidnap/propose to her, how Eros managed to get in touch with the Oracle in time, the nature of his relationship with Zephyr, more cameos of Chloris with Zephyr, as well as Eros and Psyche talking about who's the virgin in the relationship in the cover of darkness. I bet some of you can guess the answer to that one already but then it begs the question if one of them had past lovers then who were they?

There is also stripping and nudity and lots of finger-happy foreplay and so no, don't show this to minors you know.

The "Tragedy" portion of the story doubled (if not tripled) in length, so it's going to be split up into two volumes, each around 150 full colour pages (including bloopers and behind the scenes stuff). I plan to release both an e-book pdf ($15USD) and a soft cover ($35USD) for those of you who want it in hard copy like me. Preorders for the first volume: "The Elopement" will open mid February! Stay tuned!

Christmas Aftermath and Psyche update

Sat Dec 26, 2015, 2:06 PM

Hey everyone!

I hope you had a great Christmas if you celebrate Christmas and otherwise enjoyed the madness of the holiday cheer. I got some awesome gifts (Slayers novels) from my friends (who nicely asked for my wishlist) and my boyfriend (I now own the DVD collection to FMA Brotherhood ) and like every year, I got some "what do I do with this; I don't use this" gifts from friends, family and students (I don't like milk chocolate, it's too sweet for me and I don't use coloured and scented soaps or creams so to the re-gifting bin they go).

Psyche updates will be consistent with the Tapastic release now, which is two pages every Wednesday. Please let me know in this journal whether you would like updates to be in the horizonal book-format (A) or vertical mobile-format (B).

Thanks in advance for your input! (I have no idea how many of you are browsing DA on your smartphones now).
